12/05/2011 W&W Match Day Cards
After receiving a few cards that have been photographed and then emailed to me, I would like to trial run this system for any club that wishes to take part. The card must have the two signatures of the captains and be photographed and sent by email to me at bjbowls21@aol.com. Clubs should keep the original card safely as a back-up if needed. This will allow clubs to save on the cost of postage. The cards must be with me by the following Tuesday and late cards will be treated in the normal way with a £10 fine. Clubs not wanting to enter into this trial should simply send in their card by post as usual.

09/04/2012  Boldmere Sports & Social Unfortunately, due to ongoing building and refurbishment work Boldmere Sports & Social will not be able to offer after match food to teams competing on Saturday Premier Division Three & Business Houses Division One games for the 2012 bowling season. Could all secretaries from these clubs make their captains and players aware of this situation. Paul Lawrence Boldmere Sports B.C. Secretary

30/03/2012 Barn Towers B.C. have withdrawn from Premier Division 6.  Unfortunately that fixture will now have to be replaced with a bye.  We are sorry that this information has been received so close to the start of the season but we were not made aware of this until the Secretaries Meeting on Wednesday night.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary

14/03/2012 KINGS HEATH PARK B.C.  Are inviting players of all standards, age and sex to join the club.  Are you looking for a change of club but don't know if you would fit in - then look no further.  We are a friendly but competitive club who offer bowling on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays and, of course, Saturdays.  We have 5 current county players and 4 ex-county players so tuition is there should you require it.  Youngsters are most welcome and encouraged and due to new rules regarding children in our local pub (5 minutes walk away) they can also join in with the social side of the club as can anyone who would like a change.  So why not give K. P. H. secretary Ray Hodgetts a ring on 07501 081478 for more details.  There has never been a better chance to join a great club so why not give it a go.

21/02/2012 Business Houses League: The following is an email which I have received requesting information on the Business Houses League.  If you can help please contact Kevin Kelly direct. "Apologies for troubling you, but yours appears to be the only internet entry which comes up for the Midlands Works Business Houses and I have been trying to find out about that organisation, having come across a couple of small medals with "Midlands Works "Business Houses Sports Association" on them. It sounds as though it was originally a rather larger organisation and that the bowls section may be the only survivor! Even just the name sounds intriguing ! Is there anything you could tell me about this, anyone you could put me in touch with, or any reference source you know of, which might throw further light on this? Any assistance would be very gratefully appreciated. Many thanks, Kevin Kelly kevin.kelly@ciswo.org.uk"

05/0/2012 Unfortunately West Brom Labour B.C. have withdrawn both of their teams from the W&W league and it has been decided by the league sub-committee to reconfigure both the Premier and Alliance Fixtures.  The Premier League will still have 6 divisions of 12 with The Bell coming in to Division 6.  The Alliance League will have 1 division of 12 and 3 divisions of 10.  The fixtures which have already been published should be ignored and the revised fixtures will be issued as soon as possible.  Barry Jones, Fixture Secretary

09/07/2011  Important message from John Woodcock MP...

Protection of Bowling Greens Bill – Update and lobby of parliament on 13 July – from John Woodcock MP

I wanted to update you on progress regarding my bill to protect bowling greens since its introduction in parliament – and to urge you to attend a lobby of parliament on Wednesday 13 July.

I have been heartened by the level of support the bill has received both within parliament and beyond. My office has received messages of support from every corner of the country and many accounts of greens under threat.

Since introducing the bill, I have had the opportunity to raise the issue of bowling greens under threat on The One Show, on the Jeremy Vine show and, most importantly, on Talkingbowls radio. There has been coverage in the Daily Mirror, the Independent, the Sunday Telegraph, as well as in regional and local press across the country.

The bill has been supported by organisations including the British Crown Green Bowling Association CLICK HERE , Bowls England and the Sports & Recreation Alliance CLICK HERE
Forty-five MPs from across the Commons have supported my Early Day Motion backing the principles of the bill CLICK HERE

Unfortunately, it is now clear that the date nominated for second reading of the Bill (2 July) will not be a sitting day, so it will be necessary to nominate a new date. I intend that this should be around the start of the bowling season next year.

It is important to note that the bill itself is only one possible route to get more protection for bowlers - ministers could agree to enact the proposals in my bill at any time before then, and I am pressing for meetings to secure agreement from them.

In the meantime, it is important that we keep up the pressure and show the level of concern there is over the future of our bowling greens.

I am therefore urging as many people as possible to attend a lobby of parliament starting at 11am, Wednesday 13 July, where bowlers can seek to meet their MPs to raise this issue, and hopefully we can hold an impromptu game of bowls on College Green outside Parliament. Bowling campaigners will be meeting on College Green, across the road from the visitor entrance to Parliament at 11am to kick off the day. Bring your woods!

If you would like to arrange to meet your MP on 13 July to raise local bowling issues, it is a good idea to make an appointment in advance. As this is a Wednesday, most MPs are likely to be in parliament. You can find who your MP is here: http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/ . The MP’s contact details will be on the website and the House of Commons on 0207 219 3000 will be able to put you through to their office. Simply state that you are attending a lobby of parliament to demand more protection for bowling greens as outlined in my ten-minute rule bill and early day motion [INSERT NUMBER] and would appreciate a short meeting in the House of Commons to outline your concerns.

I hope to see as many as possible of you there! Please get in touch with Bowls England or the British Crown Green Bowling Association to discuss the lobby further.
